MY EARTH DAY RESOLUTION

Hey everyone! Earth Day is this Sunday.

I'm making an "Earth Day Resolution" and want to invite you to do the same! I will buy some canvas grocery bags (you can buy them at Trader Joe's, Albertson's, or Ralph's as seen below and even get a small discount on your purchases for doing so) and try to use fewer plastic bags from now on.

Those plastic bags are not biodegradable and end up filling up our landfills, or worse, our oceans. I know. I participate in Surfrider beach clean-ups (the next one is at 10AM on Sunday in Santa Monica if you want to join me for a Earth Day good deed) and I often find them washed up on our beaches and twisted up in kelp. They're not only ugly but dangerous to wildlife.

San Francisco has already passed a resolution to eliminate grocery bags; Los Angeles is studying the same possibility; I am hoping to start the same movement in Santa Monica. Please do what you can to support these measures either implicitly or explicitly! BTW, remember to keep the plastic bags you do use and either reuse them or recycle them (Albertson's and other grocers have bag recycling centers).

My little family is trying to do our part. Good to know we aren't the only ones.
